Four occupants in a vehicle came under fire from unknown gunmen leaving two men deceased.
According to KwaZulu-Natal Police Spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, two other occupants of the vehicle narrowly escaped the attack before taking cover in the bushes, on the N3 freeway, in the vicinity of Umgababa. She said Umkomaas Police received a complaint of a shooting on the N3 freeway and proceeded to the scene at around 7.30pm on Wednesday. “On their arrival, they found a grey vehicle that was stationary in the middle of the road which had multiple gunshot holes on the right-hand side. Inside the vehicle, there were two deceased, aged 35 and 43, with multiple gunshot wounds. The other two victims who survived the shooting alleged that they were on their way to Durban from Matatiele when another vehicle fired shots at them. They managed to escape unharmed and went to hide in the bushes.” Gwala said charges of murder and attempted murder were opened at Umkomaas Police Station for investigation.
