Heartfelt condolences have flooded social media platforms for Karshia Ajudhiya, 29, who was tragically killed in a horrific crash along the N11, just outside Newcastle, on Saturday morning, 20 November.
The news of her sudden tragic death sent shock waves throughout the community of Newcastle and Ladysmith. It is reported that Ajudhiya had been on her way home to Volksrust from Durban when tragedy struck and she was killed in a crash with a bus on the N11, near the Engen garage in Newcastle.
“I am totally shattered as Karshia and I shared a uniquely special bond,” said Regional Co-ordinator for Miss India NKZN, Vimmi Ramdas, whose nephew was set to marry Ajudhiya after a four-year relationship.
Ajudhiya was crowned the first princess at the Miss India NKZN pageant in 2016 and had represented NKZN at the Prestigious Miss India SA Pageant which took place at Lyric Theatre at Cold Reef City in 2016. Ramdas said that Ajudhiya had excelled in everything that she set her mind to. “In 2017, I lost my only daughter and Karshia and my unique friendship and bond had strengthened.
She was there for me on my darkest day and Karshia had become like a daughter in my home,” said Ramdas, who added that the pageant world has suffered a great loss.
The beauty queen was well known among her community as an inspiring individual who had greatly cared for her community and was always ready to get involved in community upliftment projects. Ajudhiya had worked as a senior inspector at Majuba Power Station.
“My dearest Karsh…I cannot believe the reality. May your soul rest in eternal peace,” said Akira Bipatram in a post on Facebook.
Jiara Singh said that it is heartbreaking and that she was such an amazing and humble soul. Councillor Abbas Warasally expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends on Facebook as well. Newcastle SAPS is investigating a case of culpable homicide. Ajudhiya was cremated on Sunday at the Newcastle Crematorium.
