Suicide came under the spotlight and the prevalent issue was addressed by Phoenix SAPS and the Phoenix Religious Leaders Forum at Rydalpark Secondary School, recently.
Phoenix SAPS communications officer, Captain L Naidoo, said that help was offered for the learners who are battling with suicidal tendencies and are contemplating suicide. “The informed guest speakers provided the learners with important information and the assurance that they are not alone in their challenges. Those learners who are struggling with conflicting emotions and suicidal tendencies are urged to contact the religious leaders and SAPS anonymously. ” Cpt Naidoo said that the talk was well received from the disciplined learners who listened attentively to all the speakers. “They were provided with a lot of pertinent information and are now aware that they have personnel who are willing to assist them in the battles they are facing,” added Cpt Naidoo
