Amidst the crime and the pandemonium of the day, a newborn baby boy could not wait to make his appearance into the world and was successfully delivered by Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) medics inside the ambulance while parked along the M41, on Thursday.

Rusa boss, Prem Balram, said: “The female, 30, arrived at the Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) headquarters with her husband after she went into labour at their Osindisweni residence. Rusa Medics transported the female, however as they approached uMhlanga, they were forced to stop the emergency vehicle along the M41 and deliver the baby. The mother and her 3.4kg son were then transported to a hospital in Durban.”

He said in the busyness of life, we receive these little reminders that life like time is continuous and we must be prepared for anything at any time. “We are pleased that the baby boy is healthy and the mother managed a safe delivery. A bit of good news is appreciated amidst the doom and gloom,” said Balram.
