UMlazi SAPS members sent a clear message to criminals during this busy festive season that uMlazi is not a place for criminals, by cracking down on criminals and effecting scores of arrests.
The communications officer at uMlazi SAPS, Constable G S Nyoni, said officers were deployed to all parts of uMlazi to ensure that the safety of the community is maintained. Cst Nyoni said uMlazi SAPS members engaged in road blocks, stop and searches and raids during the month of December with the aim of sussing out criminals.
“As we closed off the month of December, uMlazi SAPS members made a whopping 134 arrests, ranging from murder, attempted murder and arson to house robbery, business robbery, carjacking and dealing in liquor without a license. The members worked around the clock and continued to patrol the area 24 hours a day to ensure that more criminals are brought to justice.”
Cst Nyoni said the police members made sure that criminals did not get away with their criminal behaviour of taking advantage of innocent members of the public and robbing them of their hard-earned cash.
“UMlazi SAPS members are committed to keeping the streets clean and crime free, with regular roadblocks, searches and patrols done to ensure that criminals are caught and put behind bars where they be belong,” Cst Nyoni added.
Colonel J S Nkomo, the Acting Station Commander of uMlazi SAPS, said: “UMlazi SAPS members were out in numbers during this festive season ensuring that the streets are safe and no criminal goes unpunished. We urge the community to work together in ensuring that all perpetrators of crime are reported.
