Ugu welcomes new PR Councillor

The Ugu District Municipality council recently swore in newly elected Proportional Representative (PR) Councillor, Nomvelo Ndadane (23). The former Nciya High School learner hailing from Kwa-Mbotho area in Umuziwabantu takes over former PR Councillor, Bhekinkosi Madlala whose term recently came to an end.

Ugu District Municipality Senior Manager in Mayoralty and Communications, France Zama said: “All councillors are expected to abide by council rules and regulations as well as the code of conduct.They are expected to serve the Ugu District communities without fear or favour and take resolutions that will improve service to their respective communities.”

Councillor Ndadane swore under oath to serve communities under the Ugu District Municipality with diligence. She vowed to carry forward the directive given to her by the district’s council in line with the municipality vision and mission. “It is an honour to be entrusted with the Proportional Representative Councillor role and I will ensure that the community’s needs are prioritised at all times,” said Cllr Ndadane.

She added that the Fourth Industrial Revolution movement is central to her plans of bringing development in the communities under her Ward.

“I believe that making people in rural communities aware about the importance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution will enrich them with access to job opportunities. They will also gain skills that will contribute to their personal development,” Cllr Ndadane added.

Ugu Speaker Councillor Sizwe Ngcobo welcomed Cllr Ndadane on behalf of the council and wished her well  with her new responsibilities.
