The Democratic Alliance (DA) has launched a billboard along Durban’s N2 Freeway featuring three senior eThekwini Municipality officials as part of its campaign ahead of the November 4 local government elections.
The billboard features Mayor Cyril Xaba, City Manager Musa Mbhele and Executive Head of Water and Sanitation Ednick Msweli, alongside the message: “You can stop the water tanker mafia. Vote DA on 4 November.”
The billboard, launched on Monday, September 28, focuses on water tanker services in eThekwini and forms part of the party’s election messaging on municipal service delivery.
The term “water tanker mafia” in the billboard’s message refers to allegations of criminal activity linked to water tanker operations. The wording reflects the DA’s campaign position.
Water supply and the use of tanker services remain issues of public concern in eThekwini, particularly in communities affected by interruptions to their water supply.
The billboard’s prominent display of the three municipal leaders places the management of water services in the spotlight as political parties campaign ahead of the local government elections.
