The Durban Central SAPS arrested two suspects for robbery and possession of dangerous weapons at approximately 10.20am on Friday, 10 September.
Durban Central SAPS communications officer, Captain Muzi Maphumulo said the two suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s court on Monday morning. “It is alleged that the complainant was on foot busy talking on a cellphone along Walnut Road in Durban when two males snatched the cellphone and ran away. The Durban Central members who were on static duties at the corners of Walnut and Commercial Roads noticed the complainant, an African female running after two African males and shouting for help. The police members swiftly gave chase to the two running suspects.
Maphumulo said the two suspects were apprehended along Walnut Road in Durban and the cellphone of the complainant and a knife (okapi) was found in the possession of the suspects. “The suspects aged 31 and 37-years-old were arrested for common robbery and possession of dangerous weapons and are kept for detention at Durban Central,” Maphumulo added.
