The young runners of uMgababa Athletics Club recently got to test their skills and weigh their talents against the members of the Amanzimtoti Athletics Club (AAC).

The Toti club hosted the youngsters at their weekly Saturday morning Club Run. “It was an honour to host Umgababa AC. A lasting relationship has been formed and we are excited to welcome their junior athletes to our weekday training with Coach Riaan. Jessica Khomo, Club Manager for Umgababa AC, has such an amazing passion for development. It is going to be such a pleasure to assist and work with her in the years to come,” the club said.

Apart from hosting the uMgababa athletes, the club also handed over running shoes and kits to the youngsters. Their members and those from the community came together to donate the items in hopes of building a better future for the runners.

Hailing the drive as a success, the club said: “A massive thank you to all our members and the community for their contributions towards our running shirts and shoe collection drive!

It was a great success and the items were donated to Umgababa Athletics Club over the weekend. We will continue to collect new or gently worn running shoes and shirts.”

Donations can be brought down to the AAC on a Wednesday afternoon from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Alternatively you can make use of their drop-off point at Synergy Cafe, Arbour Crossing (Open 6am to 7pm weekdays, and 6am to 3pm weekends).
