Zinhle Mthombeni has been crowned Miss CCN Newcastle 2022 and after gruelling modelling sessions and mentoring by Sharne` Dheochand, Mthombeni vows to use her title to raise awareness on the issues surrounding teenage pregnancy and other social ills plaguing today’s youth.
The pageant took place on 12 February at the Newcastle Civic Hall where the crowd was entertained by local songstress, Belinda Ellor, and many more amazing artists. East Coast Radio’s DJ Sbu also made an appearance, much to the delight of the audience and contestants.
“It was a humbling experience and very challenging as I had to step out of my comfort zone. It made me realise that there is no limit to what I can achieve, the only limit is my mind,” said Mthombeni.
The beauty queen said she is a proud Newcastle resident and loves to be surrounded by positive energy and her smile is her signature. In her spare time, Mthombeni is a make-up artist to help fund her studies and hopes to empower young women through what she does.
She said one of the many highlights would definitely be the sisterhood and support that her fellow contestants have shown each other.
“It was a truly beautiful and overwhelming experience. I plan to use my title to raise awareness on social ills, more so that of teenage pregnancy, and encourage young girls to love, respect and value themselves and to teach them independent leadership,” said Mthombeni.
