As the old saying goes, “better to have an enemy that slaps you in the face, than a friend who stabs you in the back.”
This truth unfolded at the eThekwini Municipality’s inaugural council meeting on Wednesday, 24 November 2021 after a number of smaller political parties, and new upstarts, blatantly stabbed their voters in the back and sided with the ANC.
New kids on the block and some old timers such as the Democratic Liberal Congress (DLC), Active Citizens Coalition (ACC), Minority Front (MF), African Democratic Change (ADEC), Minorities of South Africa (MOSA), Truly Alliance (TA) and the Progressive Federal Party, (PFP) betrayed the voters trust when they voted in unison with the ANC, to have the ANC’s Mxolisi Kaunda elected as the Mayor of the eThekwini Municipality.
These parties literally wasted their time, money and effort campaigning for votes for their specific party and promising change, when they sold their votes to the ANC, a party that has driven South Africa, and more specifically eThekwini, to its knees.
Some of these parties need to be shelved as they have passed their expiration date and others should put on their training wheels and step aside and let the real drivers take wheel.
The ANC has done nothing constructive to uplift this country since we became a democracy. We have the ANC to thank for loadshedding, water cuts, overall lack of service delivery, no housing, fuel increases, fraud and corruption and the list goes on.
These powerless parties basically handed back our city to these thugs for them to salvage the ruins of whats left of eThekwini, all at the cost of the voters.
At the end of the day, those who received seats in council and sold their votes, will still receive their salaries, their conscious will not get the better of them.
They have all let down the people of each and every ward in eThekwini when the opportunity to kick the ANC out of power was available to them.
Let me place on record that we as the DA are not crying over spilt milk. We will continue to do the best we can with our head held high and our integrity intact. In eThekwini we have reached a point where pride needed to be placed aside, and we needed to get rid of the ANC. So by the time you reach the next local government elections or the general elections, think carefully who to vote for. The DA is the only party big enough to take on the ANC, cast your vote where it will make a change, and that change is the DA!
Kind Regards.
