According to police, it is alleged that the suspect stabbed himself in what seems to be an attempted suicide. Tyron Powell of Marshall Security said they responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls for assistance.

He said: “On arrival, the emergency responders discovered that a family member had stabbed his own mother and sister before inflicting harm upon himself. Tragically, the mother succumbed to her injuries and passed away before the paramedics arrived. The sister was in critical condition and required advanced life support intervention before being transported to the hospital. Similarly, the suspect’s condition was critical and also required advanced life support intervention.”

Powell added that given the gravity of the situation, the Crisis Trauma Team was dispatched to the scene to provide support to the traumatised family members. He said the knife used in the horrific incident was recovered on-site by Greenwood Park SAPS.

“We are deeply saddened by the mother’s passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.

Marshall Security would like to acknowledge and commend the collaborative efforts of Netcare911, other private ambulance services, the Glen An-Hills Neighbourhood Watch, the Greenwood Park CPF Sub-Form 5 and the Greenwood Park SAPS in responding to the incident. The swift response and collaboration of all the emergency responders involved played a pivotal role in ensuring that the victims received prompt and efficient medical attention,” added Powell.

The suspect remains in hospital under police guard.
