One person was tragically killed and four sustained serious injuries in a crash along the N11, just before the Helpmekaar/Limit Hill intersection on Saturday afternoon, 28 August.
Ladysmith SAPS and Public Safety officials had closed off the road and the KZNEMS had to utilise the Jaws of Life to free entrapped passengers from the mangled wreck. Injured passengers were treated by responding KZNEMS, ER 24 Ladysmith and InnovaMed Private Ambulance services. The details surrounding the crash are unknown at this stage, but police will investigate a case of culpable homicide. The passengers were stabilised and taken to the local hospital and the deceased has not yet been identified. At the time of the crash heavy downpours were reported and that the surface of the road was wet.
