Condolences flooded the uThukela Local House of Traditional Leaders after the sudden death of Thandi Ruth Khumalo, 53, who tragically passed away from a short illness.
Inkosi Ntuli passed away on Tuesday, 24 August. The news of her passing has sent shockwaves across the institution of traditional leadership within the province. “As a department, we are lost for words, Inkosi Khumalo served her community with distinction. As a member of the uThukela Local House of Traditional Leaders, she fostered improved relations between the three spheres of government and the institution of traditional leadership to the benefit of communities residing in the District,” said Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Sipho Hlomuka. As a female Inkosi, she lent her voice to the cause of rural women and championed programmes aimed at uplifting women and the fight against the scourge of gender-based violence. Hlomuka has sent his condolences to the family of Inkosi, isizwe samaNtungwa and the institution of traditional leadership in the province. He has also dispatched senior officials to support the family during this difficult time.
