The apprehended suspect was handed over to police
Vigilant security personnel caught a copper pipe theft suspect red-handed while patrolling in the Port Shepstone Central Business District, recently.
According to Lazer 911 spokesperson, Basil Lanka, at around 4.30pm the Lazer 911 Security Response Units were doing crime prevention patrols in the Port Shepstone CBD when they noticed a suspect cutting copper pipes at a business premises. The suspect was immediately apprehended with the tools used for committing the crime and the pipes that he already had cut out. The owner of the business and SAPS were called out.
The suspect was handed over to police for further investigation, said Lanka.
