The quick action from Public Order Police officers in Margate led to the arrest of a 42-year-old suspect after being found in possession of 18 assorted bank cards, identity documents and smart shopping cards.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said the suspect appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court for possession of stolen property. This followed his arrest after ppolice received information of a suspicious man who is suspected of card scamming at a shopping mall in Margate. Mbele said: “On arrival at the mall, police spotted the suspect and held observation before approaching the suspect.

He was searched and found in possession of 18 different bankcards, identity documents and smart shopping cards. When he was questioned about the cards he failed to provide police officers with a satisfactory explanation and was placed under arrest.”
The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya commended the police officers for swiftly arresting the suspect.
