Shameem Cassim will be hosting a high tea event for women on Saturday, 13 August

Shameem Cassim of Overport, who is passionate about women empowerment, will be hosting a high tea event at Billal Cuisine in Morningside on Saturday, 13 August, with the aim of bringing women together to discuss issues affecting them and create strong bonds among women in the community.

On the day, there will be guest speakers including Gift of the Givers co-founder, Zohra Sooliman; actress and East Coast Radio traffic lady, Jayshree Parasuramen, as well as local actor and retired policeman, Peter Keogh who will discuss personal safety.

Cassim, who is a school principal, author and educational consultant, believes that women need to form a sisterhood to nurture, support, empower and grow together.

“I recently launched a series of self-published workbooks at a jam-packed event. After the stress of the recent pandemic over the past two years, people’s lives were devoid of interaction and engagement. Many women asked for regular networking and team building or empowerment sessions. I was thereafter spurred on to provide a platform for women’s networking and communication,” said Cassim.

She said that the high tea event, celebrating the resilience of women, will have a three-course meal with a Bridgeton theme. “At this event, I hope to create a threshold for women empowerment and engagement. This event and its offering is real value for money. I promise the guests an afternoon of motivation, fun and networking coupled with a bit of glitz and glamor. Tickets are limited and are selling out rapidly,” added Cassim.
