A female motorist was injured after a tree collapsed onto her vehicle on Alpine Road on Wednesday morning, leaving her trapped inside the wreckage.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, where the woman was found entrapped beneath the fallen tree. Paramedics stabilised her condition before initiating a careful rescue operation to free her from the vehicle.
While she was immobilised, it is alleged that several unknown men from a nearby property—believed to be number 153 Alpine Road—approached the vehicle under the pretense of offering assistance. During this time, the woman’s handbag was reportedly stolen from inside the car.
The injured motorist was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further medical care.
Residents have since raised serious concerns about the property, claiming it is occupied by vagrants and linked to ongoing criminal activity. Some community members have called for authorities to intervene, citing safety concerns and repeated incidents associated with the premises.
Authorities have launched an investigation into both the cause of the tree collapse and the alleged theft.
