Police are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a man was found on Carlisle Street in Greyville last week Sunday.
Ensure Security spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said at approximately 2am a patrol unit conducting routine operations discovered an adult male lying unresponsive on the roadway.
“Upon initial assessment, the individual was found to have sustained blunt force trauma to the head. An object believed to have been used in the assault was located in close proximity to the victim and formed part of the secured scene. Emergency services were immediately notified,” said van Reenen.
The South African Police Service attended the scene shortly thereafter, while a private ambulance service responded and formally declared the man deceased.
Van Reenen said the scene was secured and handed over to SAPS for further investigation and processing.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
