A joint operation between Homeland Security and Bellair SAPS recently led to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a large quantity of stolen truck goods, including tarpaulins and chains, at a house in Sarnia On Tuesday, 13 May morning.
According to Janus Horn, spokesperson for Homeland Security, the breakthrough came after Chezney from Unique Towing and Recovering spotted suspicious activity near the N2 and M19 interchange. “Chezney observed unusual movements and immediately began monitoring the situation,” Horn said. “He circulated the information, which enabled a swift and coordinated response.”

Homeland Security, together with Bellair SAPS, acted on the tip-off and proceeded to the identified property in Sarnia, where the stolen goods were recovered. The operation resulted in the successful arrest of one suspect.
“A large number of truck tarps, chains, and other goods were recovered at the location. Thanks to TJ for assisting in transporting the recovered items to the police station,” Horn added.
He commended Bellair SAPS for their proactive approach in following up on the lead and ensuring the swift recovery of the stolen property. Special recognition was given to Constables Khanile and Munsamy, Warrant Officer Cooper, and the OCC Control Room team for their coordination and support.
“This is a great example of teamwork and proactive policing. We’re grateful to all those who played a role in today’s success,” Horn said.
A witnessed on Facebook said: “I’ve witnessed first-hand, multiple times, how they do this at the M4 offramp to Old South Coast Road. In broad daylight, they jump on the trucks and steal the tarps, and even try to cut the wires between the horse and trailer. So pleased with this outcome!”
The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out further arrests as they continue to probe the case.
