A Westham resident suffered a terrible shock when he found his wife, 53, hanging in their bedroom, recently. Phoenix police are investigating an inquest case following the alleged suicide.
Communications Officer at Phoenix SAPS, Captain Louise Naidoo, said: “It is alleged by Cst Bhengu that he received a complaint of a suicide in Langham Place and upon his arrival, he interviewed the husband who stated that his wife had just hanged herself. “The deceased’s husband further stated that he was seated in the lounge with other family members and his wife was in the bedroom by herself prior to the alleged suicide.”
Cpt Naidoo said that the husband alleged that he checked on his wife at about 3pm and all was in order. “He said there was nothing suspicious around her and he went back to the lounge. “At about 6.10pm he went back to the bedroom to check on her and noticed that the bedroom door was now closed. He tried opening the door but it seemed there was something weighing on the door. According to the husband, he forcefully pushed the door open and discovered his wife with a sari fabric around her neck,” added Captain Naidoo. The husband claimed that he tried giving his wife mouth-to-mouth but it was too late. The deceased is an Indian female who was 53 years old. No suicide note was found.
