Sharne` Dheochand, a local humanitarian who is fast becoming a nationally recognised face, has done her town of Newcastle proud once again. The 19-year-old bubbly young lady has taken the title of 4th runner-up in the recently held Miss Grand South Africa Pageant which saw contestants from all over the country participating.

Dheochand said that she was a bit nervous but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “I was very nervous but my faith in the Lord remained strong. I am very grateful to have been placed, being the youngest there, as well as competing against 35 contestants,” said Dheochand.

She said that the best part was experiencing a whole new world of pageantry and meeting so many new people. “I am extremely thankful to my family and everyone in the Newcastle community who was so supportive. To each of my sponsors, thank you so much. I could not have done it without you. Please do not stop following my journey as it has just begun and there is a lot more to come. I give all honour and glory to God as without Him, none of this would be possible,” she said.

Miss South Africa is definitely in the cards for this young lady and the Newcastle Express would like to extend its congratulations to Sharne`.
