“Sound organisation and efficient delivery culminate from a supportive networking force that aligns itself to uplift and materialise a vision. That vision is the Raksha Bandhan 2022 show,” said event coordinator, Shireen Sarjoo.

The Raksha Bandhan Unity Festival was recently held at the Young Hindu Cultural Service Society and audiences witnessed the crowning of Leiyah Raghoonanan as Miss Raksha Bandhan 2022, with 1st Princess going to Diya Mangroo and Dhiya Singh receiving the title of 2nd Princess.

Eleven young and intelligent beauties graced the local stage to participate as debutants in the Raksha Bandhan Unity Festival. It was one of the biggest highlights in the town’s post-Covid-19 calendar and the hall was filled to capacity as the debutants walked in on red carpets with their brothers, who had their rakhi bracelets tied as part of Raksha Bandhan.

“Allowing this showcase to be presented on a platform of great magnitude and elevation is only possible through the magnanimous contributions and lavish sponsors who must receive accolades of credit. Heartfelt thanks to all stakeholders for their generous sponsorship of tickets and banners. To all our Sash Sponsors who put a smile on the faces of our beautiful debutants, we sincerely thank you.

“Sincere gratitude goes out to Megatude Education for sponsorship of the E-Learner Platinum Computer Course for each debutant, who ensured that the young ladies had not only prizes behind their names but could have a certificate of learning as well,” said Sarjoo.

She added that all the debutants were winners in her eyes and that words cannot express how proud the organising committee and the YHCSS are of the work they have put in.

The following debutants received special awards: Dhiya Singh (Gorgeous Hair), Arya Singh (Miss Personality), Esha Mangroo (Loyalty and dedication), Diya Mangroo (Miss Sparkle), Leiyah Raghoonanan (Miss Glamorous), Viha Junabadur (Miss Photogenic), Sarjel Singh (Miss Catwalk), Denika Lalbehary (Lucky Deb Draw), Nimiksha Govender (Most Influential) and Neha Pachkowdie (Miss Confidence).
