A united stand against crime and a shared commitment to building a safer Arena Park were at the heart of the fourth annual Arena Park Community Policing Forum (CPF) Crime Awareness and Family Fun Day on Sunday, 28 June.

Residents joined businesses, government departments, emergency services, security companies, NGOs, NPOs and community organisations in an initiative aimed at promoting crime awareness, strengthening community partnerships and encouraging residents to play an active role in creating a cleaner, safer and more secure neighbourhood.

The Arena Park CPF thanked all their sponsors and relevant role-players for making the annual event a huge success

The event combined practical crime prevention with family entertainment, offering talks on crime prevention, gender-based violence (GBV) and emergency preparedness. PT Alarms’ slow-motion hijacking simulation gave the community valuable insight into how quickly these incidents unfold and reinforced the importance of remaining alert and prioritising personal safety.

Families enjoyed activities, competitions and giveaways throughout the day, while every child under the age of 12 received a gift. The fire brigade’s foam display was a crowd favourite, adding to the day’s festive atmosphere.

The Blanket Drive Car Show, hosted by the Chatsworth Ford Motor Club, also drew strong support with an impressive display of vehicles. Adding to the excitement, the Arena Park CPF claimed victory in the tug-of-war competition against the participating car clubs.

Arena Park CPF thanked SAPS, Metro Police, the fire brigade, Blue Security, PT Alarms, its sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors and all participating organisations for helping make the event a success and for their continued commitment to community safety.

PRO Laveen Rajkumar said: “The Arena Park CPF is especially grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, exhibitors, and every person who attended. Your generosity and support make it possible for us to continue funding community initiatives, youth programmes, crime prevention projects, and the Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) initiative. Together, we are building stronger partnerships and working towards restoring Arena Park into a clean, safe, and secure community.”
