The beachfront will come alive on Sunday, 24 August 2025, when women from across the city take to the promenade for the Women’s Ride of Return, a cycling event held in solidarity with Palestine, organised by The South Africa Palestine Solidarity Movement (SAPSM).

The ride will set off at 10:30am from the uShaka Beach Promenade opposite Ocean Ventures, following a morning of gathering and registration from 9:45 am. After completing the ride at 11:30 am, participants will join a bring-and-share picnic at midday along the promenade.

Organisers have stressed that the Women’s Ride of Return is more than just a cycling event. It is a statement of solidarity and compassion, bringing together women, families, and children in support of those suffering in Gaza. “This gathering is about unity,” they explained. “By cycling, walking, or simply showing up, the community can stand together for peace and justice.”

Women of all ages and fitness levels are invited to participate, and families are welcome to join in the ride or the picnic. Those without bicycles will still be able to take part as rental bikes will be available on site, ensuring the event is open and accessible to everyone.
Organisers are calling on Durban residents to show their support by bringing their bicycles, their families, and their spirit of unity to the beachfront for what promises to be a powerful and inspiring day.

Durban, the call is clear: ride together, stand together, and pedal for Palestine.
