Staying fit is proving to be a breeze for Amanzimtoti residents who are religiously at Beach Road on Saturdays to mark the start of the parkrun, at 8am.
Executive director of Amanzimtoti parkrun, Kirk Holdsworth, said the parkrun is for the entire family and a good way of staying fit. “We are always looking for volunteers so everyone gets a chance to run. Everyone takes part for their own enjoyment. We start with power-walks to ensure that there are no stragglers.”
Holdsworth also mentioned the added perks of parkruns, which is socialising and getting to know your neighbours while observing Covid-19 rules and regulations. He said: “We are friendly and go grab a post-parkrun coffee in a local café every week.
“We also have some members losing up to 16kg just by coming in week by week and making the run a part of their lifestyle. The parkrun is a huge tourist attraction with a lot of visitors that join in and the atmosphere is a good social scene.”
The parkrun takes place at Beach Road in Amanzimtoti every Saturday from 8am. Visitors can expect a stimulating day with good scenery through a simple walk, jog, run or even assisting by volunteering. Amanzimtoti parkrun encourages everyone to join in the exhilarating event by registering and seeks volunteers to bring out the best of the parkrun as an unforgettable experience for everyone.
