One of the oldest members of the Wentworth Bowling Club is proving that age is nothing but a number as he continues to push the boundaries of limitations.
Oom Dirk Venter recently celebrated his 96th birthday on 11 September. He recalls the many tournaments and events that he was a part of at the club over the last 15 years. Still a regular visitor to the club, Venter has won the hearts of many with his charming smile and effervescent personality over the years.
On the club’s Facebook page, a member posted: “The old-timer is always full of banter and enjoys sharing a joke with his fellow mates.” Venter said: “It has been such a great experience over the years. I have made many friends and I have played in many games for the Wentworth Bowling Club. I will definitely miss the bowling greens.”
