Upper Highway-based non-profit organisation, Imbeleko Foundation chief executive officer, Sbusisiwe Myeni said she is ecstatic and grateful to Hooper VW for sponsoring a brand new Volkswagen Caddy which will help transport learners.
The foundation helps nurture vulnerable children’s dreams in the Valley of the 1000 Hills through holistic education support and scholarship programmes in its academy. Their aim is to see young orphaned children realise their dreams.
“In January, we kicked off a partnership with the University of Cape Town Online High School and the South African Human Rights Commission aimed at accelerating access to online learning with the focus on children in rural areas across the country. The first project in this initiative helps our beneficiaries, who are enrolled full-time at UCT OHS and attend classes at the Imbeleko Academy. The Hoopers VW sponsorship is a huge step towards ensuring that rural children experience new opportunities and are empowered to reach their full potential. It will also help the young learners become society contributing and self-sufficient citizens. We can never thank Hoopers VW enough for stepping ahead with us,” said Myeni
Hoopers Volkswagen Group Managing Director, Dave Hooper said that they are happy to be able to make a difference as this is part of their values.
“One of our desires is to support worthy community initiatives such as the ones done by Imbeleko Foundation. I was more than happy to support Sbu Myeni, the founder of Imbeleko Foundation. Her good work with the children of the Valley of the 1000 Hills is truly inspiring. Through her foundation’s after school educational support programmes, a number of children will be empowered and become successful South African citizens. Hoopers VW wants to help drive the change that is needed in this country. Improved educational outcomes is one of these changes and, through the Imbeleko Foundation, future generations will be given the tools to succeed,” said Hooper.
Hooper added that the sponsored vehicle will be used to transport children to extramural activities at partnering schools in the Upper Highway.
“Participation in cultural and sporting activities is an important part of a child’s learning and development. The excitement and joy shown by the children that unveiled the VW Caddy warmed the hearts of the people who attended the car hand-over event. The vehicle is branded with the images of the children. The event was made extra special when the children danced and sang for the attendees and all participants were able to enjoy a meal together. Hoopers looks forward to contributing towards the success of the Imbeleko Foundation and its academy and the children that pass through its doors,” he said.
