Mom Samantha Ehlers will be spending her Mother’s Day with her beautiful daughters and grandchildren. “My daughters and my grandchildren are my life and I would not want it any other way,” smiled Samantha. Ehlers told The Ladysmith Herald that Covid-19 has made it extremely difficult for a lot of families in many different ways.

“We still have each other and I’m grateful and thank God for my children, who are still healthy.”  Adrie Ehlers said  she and her sisters are the lucky ones, no matter what her mother says. “We are extremely lucky to have our mother with us and that our children can get to know our mother, because nothing can beat the love of a grandmother.”    Samanatha Ehlers said that people should take stock of their blessings and they would find that sometimes, the blessings outweigh the hard times. “All those celebrating Mother’s Day should enjoy their time with their families and even if you don’t have a mother, bless your close friends with love, and remember to tell people that you love them everyday, because tomorrow is never guaranteed.”

88-year-old Lisa Lutze spent some quality time with her two daughters Betina Blighnaut, Petra De Graaf and her granddaughters Alexa Blighnaut and Tayla Blignaut at the Juana Maria Old Age Home

Johannesburg educator Betina Blighnaut, her two daughters Alexa Blighnaut and Tayla Blignaut, and aunt Petra De Graaf, made most of the Freedom Day long weekend to visit their 88-year-old mother and grandmother Lisa Lutze at the Juana Maria Old Age Home.

“It has been almost two years since I had seen my mother, due to the Covid-19 regulations and lockdown,” said Betina Blighnaut, who planned her visit as an early Mother’s Day tribute. “With the lockdown at the old age home,it had been extremely difficult to visit my mother, but with the easing of the regulations and of course the long weekend, we had to come down for a visit with my mother.” Alexa and Tayla Blignaut told The Ladysmith Herald that they are extremely grateful for their time spent with their grandmother, as she is the only living grandparent. “We never got the opportunity to meet our other grandparents, so we are grateful for these moments with her.”   Petra De Graaf added that every day people should remember their parents, and the sacrifices they have made. “You should always treasure moments like these, because it can never be replaced.”
