The body of an unidentified male is being examined by police and forensic detectives in Silverglen Drive after they were notified of the man lying on the side of the road by passers-by, early this morning (Tuesday).
Detectives from the Bayview SAPS and officials from the Silverglen Conservancy who were alerted by road users of the busy and notorious area, are currently at the scene and are trying to determine the manner in which the man died. Passers-by said the man had visible injuries to the side of his body and described the injuries as bruises. Silverglen Conservancy chairman, Shaun Hammond, said the incident will remain as an inquest for now. “Police are still trying to figure out the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. The Silverglen Conservancy has full confidence in the detectives handling the case,” said Hammond.
Silverglen Drive, which leads from Havenside to Silverglen, borders the Silverglen Nature Reserve and is within close proximity to other deaths that have occurred in recent months. The body is the fifth to be discovered in the vicinity of the Silverglen Nature Reserve since (and including) the killings of the park rangers in March this year.
