Anglepark Place residents in Shastripark are calling for two pitbull dogs to be removed from the area as they claim that the owner uses the dogs to “resolve his issues with the community”.
This came after Clive Mangar, 41, a resident in the area, alleged that the owner let loose his dogs on him and watched as they bit him.
Phoenix SAPS spokesperson, Captain Louise Naidoo, confirmed that a case was opened under the Animal Act. “It’s alleged by the complainant that he proceeded to the suspect’s house regarding an assault on his son when the suspect set his dog on him,” said Capt Naidoo.
Mangar alleged that on 23 August, his son Letoyan went to the pharmacy with his friend. “On the way, three known males from the area troubled him by teasing and hitting him, so he came home and told me. I went to Norris Park where the males were. When I got there, I could see the teenagers were highly intoxicated, so I was talking to them. The owner of the dogs opened his sliding door and allowed his two pitbulls to come out and these dogs ran towards me. One of them grabbed my right leg and started biting me and never stopped. I managed to release the dog. Then the owner called the dog inside the garage. He was so cruel that he had a grin on his face and hands folded whilst watching his dog bite me,” alleged Mangar.
Mangar alleged that while he and his son were leaving Norris Park and were walking on Main Park, the dogs’ owner allegedly pointed a gun at his son’s head and allegedly said: “I will put a bullet through your head”. “Then he screamed and using vulgar words said
to me ‘Tootsie (a name that I am called by), I waited for you from a long time’.
