Baby Kezrah Ngobese, who lives with a chronic liver disease called Biliary Atresia resulting in her being in and out of hospital from birth (Newcastle Express, 8 June 2021), caught the attention of some very kind community members.

Imraan Ghaffoor, who read the article and was touched, contacted his friends who together form the Pakistan Newcastle Community and the Pakistan Association of South Africa of Northern Natal, to see if they could assist the tot in any way. “When I read about baby Kezrah I was very touched. She is a child who deserves to be happy and healthy. Seeing as she is being raised by a single parent, it must be difficult for her mother as well, so I immediately knew that we should come together and help her,” he said.

The team managed to raise a total of R9 200 to assist with her medication and dietary needs. Teary-eyed Rechelle Ramnarian, Kezrah’s mother, was overcome with emotion as the cash donation was handed over to her. “I just want to extend my heartfelt thanks for this donation, you have no idea what you have done and I appreciate it so much. God bless you,” she said. Baby Kezrah is still awaiting a liver transplant in order to live the full, healthy life she deserves.
