The Havenside community was left shocked and saddened after the tragic death of 46-year-old father Jeremiah David, whose body was found in his home on Tuesday, 14 January. Police are investigating a case of murder, following the discovery of an open head wound at the scene.
A resident requested assistance from members of Mzansi Securifire and other security partners regarding a non-responsive family member. The officers assisted in gaining access to the premises. Upon entry, the Mzansi team searched the home and found an Indian man deceased on his bed. The deceased had severe head injuries and significant blood loss.
Warrant Officer Collin Chetty, spokesperson for SAPS Bayview said: “Police are investigating a case of murder and anyone who has information is encouraged to cooperate with officers.” As investigations continue, authorities are appealing to the public for any assistance that may help uncover the circumstances surrounding David’s untimely death.
David’s passing has left a void in the community, where he was known for his warmth, intelligence, and dedication to personal development. In his obituary shared on social media, David was described as a passionate advocate for empowering people, which led him to join the central office employment equity forum. His role within the organisation centred on the implementation and training of policies designed to promote equality and opportunity in the workplace.

Yet, while his professional achievements were impressive, it was his role as a father that stood out the most to those who knew him. His passing has left a deep sadness within the community, but his legacy as a dedicated father and a passionate advocate for human development will be remembered,’ the obituary read.
His funeral was held on Saturday, 18 January, where family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects.The family has requested privacy and declined to comment or offer tribute messages to the deceased.
