As part of the Mandela Month initiative, La Verna Hospital performed the first batch of 2021 cataract procedures on Saturday, 31 July. This was an invaluable exercise which helped to restore vision for those really in need.
Dr Asgar Sahib, an ophthalmologist, performed the procedures and each patient was extremely grateful. The oldest patient was 90 years old. Each patient was also presented with a gift bag for which they were delighted. “A special thanks to partners in the programme, La Verna Hospital, Vertice Eyecare and our other sponsors, for making it a memorable occasion,” said Dr Sahib. The second batch of procedures will be performed during Eye Care week in October.
