Samuel Lebogang Sebego, Savannah Park’s 33-year-old artist famously known as Sbi Techn, has proved that unwavering faith and perseverance can make all dreams come true.
After 15 years in the cut-throat music industry, Sebego’s most significant achievement to date is finally earning enough to build himself a magnificent double-storey house.
“There’s so much I’m grateful and thankful for, I truly don’t know where to start. I just had a new-born baby too, so everything in my life is finally taking me places. I am incredibly thankful to my global fanbase who streams my music, but I reserve my special gratitude for Mac Harris, the late performer who gave me a crucial piece of advice: ‘stay independent and never be tempted by record label contracts’. I’ve built myself a home now because everything is managed properly by myself, not a label,” he proudly said, highlighting the rewards of his self-reliant approach.

His journey has been one of consistent growth, a far cry from the early days.
He said: ”I remember when I started in 2010 and would struggle to make even R10 with music, and my fellow schoolmates, especially my classmates at university, were laughing about my plans. Luckily, more venues and clubs quickly started buying into the brand as the name and trust grew gradually.”
While his passion for music was always there, his significant break came in 2015, after a highly successful remix of Black Coffee’s “Music is the Answer” exploded online. This pivotal moment, coupled with his YouTube channel, now boasting over 550 million views, cemented his belief that his passion could indeed become his life’s work, proving that luck was indeed on his side, leading to an incredible collaboration.
That collaboration is the new single, “Golden Love,” from his upcoming album #JUMP, featuring Australian artist Jordan Grace.
“People often say that when you’re looking for something to happen, you wait and you work so hard towards it and sometimes it just doesn’t happen for you because luck wasn’t on your side. I also felt that way for the longest time until my music reached the shores of Los Angeles (LA) upon the ears of Australian artist Jordan Grace. Grace heard my music and actually came down to South Africa to work on a collaboration. He heard my beats and we ended up recording ‘Golden Love’. This is truly a testament to what perseverance is. Had I given up, I would not have had this opportunity literally come to my doorstep,” he said.
Beyond his personal achievements, Sebego remains a powerhouse in the music scene. He attributes all of his current success to his loyal support base and his passion for music is what drives him.
“I believe that anyone and everyone should be able to listen to good music and on YouTube, everything is free for listeners so thank to everyone who follows, likes, shares and subscribes,” he said.
Sebego offered valuable advice to aspiring DJs and producers: “For DJing, it’s not about you as a DJ, it is about what the crowd wants. But if you’re producing, then do not produce what your friends like, play from the heart to attract the right clients, the right fans and the right sponsors – people who could pay money for who you are and work and not for the newest trends but for the classics.”
