The Pavillion Shopping Centre recently distributed 2 000 food parcels to the community of Chesterville. The centre reached out to one of the Chesterville community leaders, Thamsanqa Zondo, who agreed to partner with them in giving back to their neighbouring community, Chesterville, as a gesture of thanks to show their appreciation.
To celebrate this month, the Pavilion Shopping Centre wanted to demonstrate that goodwill should never be limited to a single day and to keep the spirit of “Ubuntu” alive by supporting those who stood by the centre during these recent difficult times. After discussions with Zondo, it was mutually agreed that the centre would contribute 2 000 food parcels that will be distributed to the Chesterville community, especially those who are in dire need of the parcels. The food parcels contained a large number of items with a good shelf life or rather perishables and non-perishables which include, maize, tinned fish, baked beans, sugar, spaghetti, apricot jam, cooking oil, salt, soup, tea bags and rice.
General manager of the Pavilion Shopping Centre, Nisha Kemraj, said: “When you help others, you set a good example to those around you. You provide inspiration for the people who are out there and see that they too can pay it forward and assist. It means that charities or community leaders can look to receiving further assistance, in product or kind, making it a little less of a struggle to help those in need.”
