A father of twin girls, who desperately attempted to see his children, was left with serious injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by a man outside a school in Reservoir Hills recently.
The father of five-year-old twins, Mohamed Raouf Razak, claimed that he has not seen his children for two years, and they are now living with his former in-laws in Reservoir Hills as their mother works in Dubai.Talking about his ordeal, Razak said: “My ex-wife left the children with her parents two years ago when she went overseas and I have not seen them ever since. Desperate to see my children as I miss them dearly, I went to their school on Tuesday, 16 November, under a false identity. I just wanted to see my children and maybe give them a hug, I meant no harm. When the people at the school realised who I was, they called a man, who was driving an ambulance, to get me out of the premises. The man dragged me to the road and assaulted me. He also pulled a firearm and threatened to kill me. I told him not to harm me as I am not a violent person, I just wanted to see my children.”
He added that he was bedridden for a week following the brutal assault. “My arm is still blue and I have not fully recovered,” he said. Razak said he has been trying to get his children in his custody for the past two years but has not been successful. “My former in-laws are unlawfully holding custody of my children. I have been attending court, and I was informed that the children should be in my custody as I am the biological father. They do not want me to see my children because they do not like me. I have the right to see my children,” he said. Sydenham SAPS station commander, Colonel Ruth De Villiers, said they are investigating an assault case following the incident. “The motive for the assault is not known at this stage,” she said.
