As part of the national Child Protection Week commemorations, members of the Durban Central SAPS visited St Anthony’s Primary School on Wednesday, 4 June, to raise awareness on issues affecting children’s safety and well-being.

The campaign, led by Social Crime Prevention and Communications officers, aimed to educate and empower learners with crucial information about bullying, road safety, substance abuse, and children’s rights. The event began at 07:30 and saw an enthusiastic turnout from both learners and teachers, with around 800 pupils benefiting from the initiative.

Several key stakeholders joined the SAPS in this awareness campaign, including Durban Life Line, Safer Cities, and representatives from the Department of Community Safety and Liaison. Together, they delivered engaging and age-appropriate talks to encourage children to speak out against abuse, make safe choices, and understand their rights.
