Berea SAPS has thanked Pavan Naidoo, member of Berea Community Police Forum for securing a sponsorship of flash drives for members at the station. The donation is aimed at enabling service delivery at the station.
Lungelo Zulu, chairperson of Berea Community Police Forum said that they are always happy to work together with police in fighting issues affecting the community. He said that this is another part of their commitment to strengthen their relationship with the police.
“As the CPF, our aim is to mobilise the community in fighting issues affecting the community. We always encourage communities to play their part as we need their support in championing issues such as crime. We appreciate the business community for coming on board and supporting us with their resources. This makes the police and CPF job easier. A very big thank you to Penny Appeal SA organisation for their donation. We also encourage other sectors to lend a helping hand in order to make sure that our communities are safe and crime free,” said Zulu.
Captain PN Naidoo, Berea SAPS communications officer welcomed the sponsorship of the flash drives and thanked Penny Appeal SA organisation.
“The management and staff of Berea SAPS are grateful for their assistance. The sponsorship was given with no obligation to the organisation. Thank you,” said Naidoo.
Shahnaaz Paruk, chief executive officer of Penny Appeal SA said that as an organisation, they are focused on transforming and advocating for communities to be able to transform out of the issues such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and child protection.
“Penny Appeal SA actively advocates on issues relating to GBV and child protection. When we learnt that something as simple as cases and evidence missing and mistrials due to no USB sticks being available to deliver evidence, we decided that a small action could make a huge difference. We hope the donation will allow for SAPS to perform their duties much more effectively, and with a greater success rate of justice being served,” said Paruk.
