The ambulance caught alight and the cause of the fire is under investigation

There was chaos at an accident scene on the N2 freeway near Scottburgh when an ambulance responding to the accident burst into flames.

Scottburgh SAPS communications officer, Captain Adam Francis, said the vehicle that was involved in the initial accident was travelling north and that the driver lost control after the right rear tyre came off. “The driver and his two passengers were treated at the scene for slight injuries and transferred to the hospital.” What happened next caused more alarm to those at the scene.”While at the scene, an ambulance which was responding to the accident caught alight after it was parked on the side of the road. The cause of the fire is unknown,” said Francis.
