An accused drug dealer, who was out on bail, landed himself in more hot water when he was stopped in his tracks and arrested following an operation by the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit, on Umgeni Road on Wednesday night.

The operation was conducted by the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit after they received information about a man that was transporting drugs in his vehicle from Gauteng to Durban.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo, said: “The team worked tirelessly in gathering all the information as well as the travelling routes. Yesterday afternoon at 17:15, while holding observation, the suspect’s vehicle was spotted travelling in Umngeni Road near Durban Station and it was intercepted. Upon searching the vehicle, the suspect was found in possession of approximately 2,2kg of pure heroin powder.”
