Mthwalume based model, Konke Nyathi has her eyes set on the Miss Pietermaritzburg Integrity beauty pageant which will take place at Bassie Library in PMB on 3 September.
The upcoming model said if she wins the pageant, she will use the title to raise awareness on the importance of community outreach projects.
The 22-year-old beauty queen said she believes that the pageant helps participants to build their self-esteem.
“I’m passionate about modelling. I’ve looked up to model, Zabelo Hlabisa since 2017.I fell in love with the way she walks in high-heels. Her achievements have inspired me to be confident and to take opportunities in order to make a name for myself,” said Nyathi.
The former Mthwalume High School learner and Durban University of Technology student said: “I have been involved in numerous charity work. I recently visited the Port Shepstone Child Welfare where I donated clothes and sanitary towels. I have also done motivational speeches at Bongucele Secondary School where I got the chance to discuss issues that we are facing as young girls,” said Nyathi.
Nyathi said taking this crown back to the South Coast will inspire young upcoming models from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“I want to win this pageant for all the young girls who were denied the opportunity to conquer their dreams due to a number of restricting factors in rural communities. I want to strike light in their eyes and tell them that there’s nothing that is impossible,” she said.
