Registration for the ninth edition of Muslimah Today – a conference targeting Muslim women, organised by ILM for Women, a branch of the Institute for Learning and Motivation South Africa (ILM-SA) – is now open.
The conference, which features seven dynamic Muslim women speakers, will take place at the conference hall of the Durban Botanic Gardens from 8.15am to 5.40pm on Sunday, 28 August.
“We are excited to be back after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The conference is limited to 200 participants so we advise women to register as soon as possible, as the previous edition was sold out,” said Fatima Asmal, a trustee of ILM-SA.
The conference programme is jam-packed with inspirational speakers and interesting topics including: Bibi Amina Phili (humanitarian – topic: Self-doubt: The ending of a beginning); Dr Quraysha Ismail Sooliman (academic – topic: The search for beauty: Finding it through Islam); Dr Safiyyah Ibrahim (psychiatrist – topic: You are not alone: Coping with grief and depression); Honey Allee (nurse – topic: Redirecting our efforts into humanitarianism for the pleasure of God); Qaanitah Hunter (journalist – topic: The story of the pink shoes: How I became an award-winning journalist); Ustaadhah Fadwa Solomon (Islamic studies educator – topic: Envisioning Jannah: Contentment for eternity); Ustaadhah Ruqayya Paruk (Tajweed teacher – topic: Opening Qira’ah) and Zohra Sooliman (Co-founder of Gift of the Givers – topic: Voices of Muslim women in polygynous marriages: A lived reality).
