Parents of abandoned baby sought

The Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are seeking assistance in finding the relatives or parents of an infant in the attached picture to help solve a case of child abandonment.

It is alleged that on 10 July at approximately 10.15pm, the infant was found alive by police, abandoned in a dustbin at Boscombe Place behind a hotel in Durban.
Provincial SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, said: “It is suspected that she was abandoned on the day after she was born and the Durban Central FCS Unit is investigating a case of child abandonment.”

Col Mbhele urged anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the parents or relatives of the child to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Dludla, on 061-375-4876 or Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
