It’s only through the mercy and blessings of the Almighty that we were afforded the opportunity to try and assist the people of KZN and the surrounding areas.
On behalf of the Azaadville and Lenasia team who traveled to KZN with the loads of bread and milk, we would like to take this opportunity to bring to the fore, a few important aspects of our journey which have not yet surfaced but which we feel was an integral part of the said journey. The team was put together in less than five hours. We received a call from the coordinator of the goods and as has been the modus operandi in the past, our team answered to the call. The team on the ground is only a tenth of the personnel that were directly involved in the contingent’s successful journey and it would be a disservice not to mention their effort and sacrifices. For security purposes however, we will not mention the names of the individuals but will mention the acts of kindness received from them. To the filling station owners who contributed free fuel to the contingent, we thank you. To the gentleman from Soweto who met us at the filling station 5 minutes before our departure and donated R1 000 to the contingent, we thank you. To the family and friends in Gauteng who had prepared food and drinks for the contingent, we thank you. To the community of Gauteng who dug deep into their pockets to assist financially, we thank you. To the family and friends who sacrificed their sleep to be in contact with us every 30 minutes, we thank you. To the religious leaders and all members of the community who prayed for us and supported us emotionally, we thank you.
To the gentlemen who provided the various trucks, drivers and fuel, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. To the children, spouses and family members of the contingent who travelled to KZN, who were well aware of the seriousness and intensity of the journey, knowing that the consequences of this journey may be of a serious nature, without any hesitation, supported their loved ones to undertake this journey. For this act of courage, we thank you. To the bakery that produced the bread, you had stopped your normal production to ensure that our load be given priority and for that, we thank you. To the security team, after much uncertainty of the safety of the team and goods being transported, you had reassured us with your confidence and valour and ensured that the loads were delivered safely and timeously, and for this, we thank you. To the community members who sacrificed their time to pack and load the trucks with the bread and milk, we thank you and appreciate your efforts. This list is not exhaustive and for the sake of brevity, we thank each and every individual who lent a helping hand to us. May the prayers and blessings we receive/d be extended to each one of you. Our contingent travelled through the evening and had reached the NMJ Islamic Centre at approximately 10.30am on 15 July. The reception we had received from all those at the centre was overwhelming beyond comprehension. We cannot express our gratitude for the respect shown to our contingent.
Our team had stayed in KZN and during our stay, we had received tremendous support and assistance from the community of KZN. We will again not name the individuals who went beyond their scope to ensure that we were well taken care of, but we will mention a few instances of their kindness. To the owners of the guest house/s who hosted us and refused to accept payment, we thank you for your wonderful services. To the members of the NMJ team, we thank you for providing the contingent with meals and the like thereof. To the man who had no bread in his home but insisted on providing 4 meals to the contingent, we thank you. To the members of the community and security personnel who ensured that we do not have to wait for fuel in Durban, we thank you. To the community who opened up their pockets and homes, we thank you. To the NMJ team who agreed for us to assist them at their premises, as well as allowed us to partake in the distribution on and off-site, we thank you. To the butcher who provided meat to the contingent and refused to accept any payment, we thank you. This list is once more not exhaustive and we thank one and all in KZN and the surrounding areas for all that they have done. We pray that the Almighty reward each and every one of you for your generosity, respond to you in your hour of need as you have responded to us at every hour, grant blessings to you and your family and may peace and blessings be upon KZN and its people.
