Durban North’s Angie Calo is taking her passion for wellness, education and community upliftment to the national stage after securing a place among the Mrs South Africa Top 30 finalists for 2026.

For Calo, the achievement represents more than a place in a pageant. It is an opportunity to amplify the work she has spent years doing in the health and wellness sector and use her growing platform to make a difference in the lives of others.

A non-clinical medical specialist and accredited Pilates instructor, Calo works at Abalisious Pilates Health and Wellness, where she focuses on post-surgery rehabilitation and holistic wound care. Her work sees her assist a diverse range of clients, from terminal patients to elite sports professionals, while working alongside other healthcare practitioners.

Her passion for community service has also seen her become involved with the Wound Care Association of South Africa, promote awareness of ozone therapy and holistic healing modalities, and partner with Busamed on initiatives raising funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Reflecting on her journey, Calo said making the Top 30 had been both deeply personal and transformative.

“The journey is one of grit and grace. You need to stay focused on your purpose. For me, it has given me a voice and the self-confidence to rise, speak my truth, and restore my relationship with God. The gifts and prizes we have already received are beyond anything I have ever experienced.”

Her Mrs South Africa journey has also strengthened her commitment to education. Calo has selected the 4Change Foundation as her charity of choice and has pledged to raise an ambitious R1 million for the organisation.

“Education is the key that unlocks the future, empowering individuals to achieve their dreams and shape a better world,” she said.

The road to the Top 30 saw Calo participate in an intensive semi-finals programme in Sandton, which included leadership roundtables, mentorship sessions, interviews, workshops and an on-stage showcase.

With the finals set for November, Calo will spend the coming months balancing workshops, charity engagements and other Mrs South Africa commitments with her career and community work.

“My plans for the future are to continue the work that I am already doing, touching the lives of people in the community,” she said.
