The Tongaat cultural and spiritual organisation, Vishwa Shakti Community Trust, wowed the audience with their performance at Sibaya’s IZulu Theatre recently.

The group members enthralled the audience with their mesmerising performance when they staged the two sold-out performances of ‘Life is a Tamasha’ at Sibaya’s iZulu Theatre. The show, directed by Vanita Maharaj, included actors and dancers aged from five to 38 years old.

Vishwa Shakti Founder, Kamal Maharaj said the show took its content from the title of ‘Life is a Tamasha’ “meaning life is messed up, funny at times, depressing at times, makes you cry and makes you laugh”.

“We had an overwhelming response from the community to the shows, with audience members coming from Amanzimtoti to Stanger,” Maharaj said.

He thanked Sibaya Casino for giving the iZulu Theatre to the organisation at a reduced rate, and for allowing a day for the dress rehearsal and set up.

“We do this for the love of the performing arts and hope to run the show again at the end of the year,” he said.

Vishwa Shakti Community Trust is an NPO organisation that uses yoga, creative arts and dancing, music and talks to inspire the youth towards a brighter future. The group comprises 75 community members.

Sibaya Casino’s General Manager, Virath Gobrie said the entertainment venue was pleased to support Vishwa Shakti.

“By supporting the community with a venue to perform, we not only raise up the arts but also get closer to the very people who support us. It is our commitment to showcase our investment in arts and culture within our communities. Congratulations to all involved for a magnificent show,” Gobrie said.
