The weekend brought tragedy when two passengers were killed and two other vehicle occupants were injured when the car they were travelling in, overturned on the R102, in the vicinity of Phoenix, on Saturday night.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) arrived on scene at approximately 10.27pm. RUSA boss, Prem Balram, said a white Suzuki Vitara was found lying on its roof.
“Paramedics from a private ambulance service were in the process of stabilising three injured males. A female passenger was fatally injured. No other vehicles were involved in the accident,” added Balram.
Meanwhile, KZN VIP Medics attended to the injured and spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said: “KZN VIP Ambos arrived on scene and sadly one person showed no signs of life and was declared deceased. A second critical patient sadly passed away en-route to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital.
Two other critical patients were treated and transported to hospital by KZN VIP. The cause of the crash cannot be confirmed but emergency services were on scene less than minutes due to hearing the crash. Personnel from the fire department arrived on scene and assisted.”
