A man died after allegedly being set alight in Ntuzuma on Monday evening, while two nearby shacks were also gutted by fire, sparking suspicions that these incidents are connected.
KZN VIP emergency medical teams were dispatched to the scene, where they found the man with extensive burn injuries across his body. KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo said the victim showed no signs of life when medics arrived and was declared dead at the scene.
“Emergency medical teams responded to the incident and found the man with extensive burns. Sadly, there was nothing further that could be done, and he was declared deceased at the scene,” said Naidoo.
Two nearby shacks were also found to have been set alight. However, it remains unclear whether the fires were directly linked to the man’s death.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unknown. Police investigations are expected to establish what led to the man’s death and whether the shack fires were connected to the incident.
