Teens Under The Hood South Africa (TuthSA) is stepping up to assist elderly residents in Durban North and surrounding areas with voter registration ahead of the upcoming elections.
The youth-led organisation, founded by Michelle Beaumont-Willoughby, has launched a door-to-door voter registration assistance drive aimed at ensuring senior citizens are not left behind when it comes to exercising their democratic right.
Recognising that mobility challenges, transport difficulties and long queues can make the registration process difficult for some elderly residents, TuthSA volunteers will be travelling through local communities on Saturday, 1 August, and Sunday, 2 August, visiting seniors at their homes to provide assistance.
“To all those people who need assistance, we are prepared to come and do a visit. We are here to help you. We care about our elderly. Your voice matters, and we want to make sure you are registered to vote this Saturday and Sunday. Please reach out now,” said Beaumont-Willoughby.

The service is free, with volunteers assisting seniors at their front gates to complete the voter registration process or providing guidance through the online registration process.
Families, neighbours and caregivers are encouraged to reach out on behalf of elderly loved ones who may require assistance.
“This is about more than voting. It’s about showing our elderly that we see them, we value them, and we care,” Beaumont-Willoughby added.
Residents requiring assistance can WhatsApp or call 067 858 5658 to book a home visit or receive guidance through the online process.
